Lead With Us
Help Build the Community You Needed

The Foxhole Project is not meant to be a community where Veterans only receive support. It is a community where people eventually have the opportunity to give something back.

After spending time at Campfire Socials, participating in Waypoint Retreats, joining Expeditions, or simply becoming part of the community, some Veterans may want to take a more active role.

There are plenty of ways to do that. You do not need a title. You just need something you are willing to contribute.

Ways to Lead

Leadership within The Foxhole Project can take many forms.

You might:

  • Welcome someone attending their first Campfire Social

  • Help set up or tear down an event

  • Teach a practical skill

  • Lead part of a hike

  • Cook a meal for the group

  • Help organize equipment

  • Mentor another Veteran

  • Facilitate a Veterans Campfire

  • Support a Waypoint Retreat

  • Help lead an Expedition

  • Volunteer at a community event

  • Share knowledge from your military, professional, or personal experience

Sometimes leadership is standing in front of the group. Sometimes it is noticing the new person sitting by themselves and pulling up a chair.

From Participant to Leader

There is no automatic promotion and no expectation that everyone eventually becomes a facilitator or trip leader.

Some people will come to events because they need community.

Some will eventually want to help build it.

For those who do, The Foxhole Project aims to create opportunities to grow into volunteer, mentor, facilitator, instructor, and leadership roles over time.

Experience within the community matters because leadership here is built on trust.

You Still Get to Be Part of the Group

Becoming a volunteer or leader does not mean you stop being a participant.

Veterans who help lead still get to sit around the fire, learn from other people, ask for help, laugh, struggle, and simply be part of the community.

Leadership is not about standing above anyone. It is about taking responsibility for the people beside you.

What Leadership Is Not

Leadership within The Foxhole Project is not rank, authority, or status.

It is not about being the toughest, most experienced, or most accomplished person in the group.

It is about service, reliability, humility, and helping create the kind of community where the next person feels comfortable enough to show up.

Connect. Participate. Grow. Then help someone else find their place around the fire.
