Our Journey Begins Here
Explore Our Story

The Foxhole Project was born from a simple truth: connection makes us stronger.
Too many veterans return home only to feel disconnected from the camaraderie we once had in service. We've felt that gap -- the quiet after the mission, the loss of shared purpose, the space where our community used to be. So we built something different.
What started as a few conversations around a campfire has grown into a veteran-led nonprofit rooted in the San Luis Valley. Our goal is to recreate the trust and camaraderie we found in service -- this time under open skies, around shared meals, and through meaningful conversations in the dirt.
We're not here to fix anyone. We're here to walk beside you, to build community, and to create the kind of connection where everyone belongs. Just like in the foxhole.
Empowering Veterans Every Day

Veteran-Founded. Purpose-Driven.
The Foxhole Project was founded by a service-connected disabled U.S. Army veteran who knows firsthand what it means to feel disconnected after service. Built from lived experience and personal healing, our mission is to create spaces where veterans, service members, and their families can reconnect, find purpose, and grow—together. Through overland retreats, campfire circles, and hands-on skill-building, we offer a place where those who’ve worn the uniform can be seen, heard, and supported by peers who understand the weight of their journey.
Our Mission
To reconnect service members, veterans, and their families by fostering a strong, supportive community through outdoor experiences, peer connection, and shared purpose -- creating spaces where they can rely on each other, grow together, and rebuild camaraderie beyond service.
Our Vision
A connected veteran community where no one feels alone -- where camaraderie is rekindled, purpose is rediscovered, and growth continues across trails, campfires, and every rally point we create together.
Who We Serve
Any Service Member, Veteran, or Family Member looking for connection, purpose, or support. No prerequisites. no judgement. No cost.
Our Core Values
1. Camaraderie: We stand shoulder to shoulder, not above or apart. We build bonds that reflect the foxhole mindset -- mutual trust, shared strength, and having each other's six.
2. Growth Through Experience: Struggle is not a requirement -- growth can happen in challenge, in connection, or simply by showing up. We believe veterans can continue to grow, lead, and thrive though shared experiences and community support.
3. Purpose and Agency: Everyone has something to offer. We empower veterans to reclaim their roles as leaders, mentors, and capable human beings with practical value.
4. Community-Led Support: We grow best in circles, not silos. We trust in peer support, shared stories, and connection -- creating connection without clinical barriers and without defining veterans by their challenges.
5. Integrity and Honor: We do what we say -- and we own our impact. We operate with transparency, accountability, and respect for those we serve.
6. Inclusion and Respect: Every service story is valid. Every voice matters. We serve veterans of all branches, eras, backgrounds, and identities -- because no one heals alone.
